Branded residences at one of the world’s best ski resorts
By Kitzbühel Alps
When Vienna-native Mike Staininger first walked through Wasenmoos National Park years ago, he felt a deep sense of connection and belonging to the region, and had a vision to develop the land into something incredible - all in a sustainable fashion.
“I wanted to create something truly special, where people could come to and reconnect with nature, the people around them and just feel whole”
This comes as no surprise to those who know the area - the striking mountain region just outside Kitzbühel is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts all year round, with world-class skiing in the winter and lush alpine landscapes to explore in the summer. Walking around the Wasenmoos at 1,230 metres, taking in the crisp mountain air and looking out over the largest National Park in the Alps, Hohe Tauern, is nothing short of breathtaking - now imagine that’s your back garden.
Why Six Senses?
Although he was approached by many luxury hospitality brands for the Kitzbühel Alps Hotel and Branded Residences project, Mike knew that the brand he chose would need to respect the natural beauty of the area, and integrate itself into the fabric of the mountains, as opposed to towering over them. The only brand that could bring his vision for a sustainable, wellness-driven Alpine ski resort to life was Six Senses.
“We chose Six Senses because they are the exact ingredients and DNA of this project”
For Mike, what differentiates Six Senses is the fact that it holds the reputation of the top luxury hotel and residences brands in the world, while simultaneously promoting cutting-edge wellness and sustainability. This subtle harmony of pristine, untouched nature and futuristic technology fits perfectly with Kitzbühel’s own identity; traditional Austrian hospitality with a cosmopolitan feel.
“It's a brand that is about wellness. It's about culture. It's about community. It's about connection.”
This sense of connection to Six Senses runs deep for Mike, as it was at the Yao Noi Resort in Thailand that he proposed to his wife. He decided then and there that if the brand ever ventured into Europe, he must be a part of it.
Branded Residences in a world-class ski resort
Six Senses Kitzbühel Alps is a sanctuary for the whole family, a place to escape from the busy digital world, reset and enjoy the alps.
“This is a place where you want your kids to run around- it's safe, it's pure”
Residents and hotel guests alike will have the opportunity to get back to nature and to their roots, whether that’s eating organic, locally foraged foods, engaging in extreme sports or enjoying peaceful nature walks.
Longevity is a core principle of Six Senses Kitzbühel Alps, providing the facilities to help people gain full control over their health, both physically and mentally, to prevent diseases and live longer, healthier lives. For Mike, longevity means being able to come back to his home in the mountains for years to come, and run around with his grandchildren.
“ the purpose of this project to make people feel amazing inside out, to connect with one another”
Giving back to the community
Mike is extremely mindful of the local community of Kitzbühel and the surrounding region, and is excited at the prospect of being able to share this opportunity with them.
“Austria gave this gift to us, and now we have to give back”
There are a number of ways that Six Senses Kitzbühel Alps will give back to the local community. From creating a fund to protect the national park to integrating all of the local farms for locally sourced produce, the project will also create around 1,000 jobs in the area.
